Innovative people who are capable of translating their ideas into consumer products and services get the highest priority and recognition in the society as they serve the societal needs. Universities and Industrial houses are pro active in bridging the societal needs and young talents at different levels. BoP programme of Manipal University is one among them.

Manipal University with Philips has started such a unique program named Base of the Pyramid catering to the needs of innovative people. It has a blend of experts from Medical, Technological, Management and other streams working for the common purpose and striving hard to reach the emerging consumers through their knowledge reservoir.

Manipal University is organizing a two day Summit during the month of Dec. 17 and 18, 2009 at Manipal involving partners of BoP in the areas of Innovation, Incubation and investment. The theme of the summit provides common platform to share the experiences in developing product and services for BoP consumers in open innovation environment. The session will also have panel discussion with the BoP theme at the centre.

The summit will also showcase various activities that are undertaken at different levels of emerging consumers and to provide a platform for experts to share their knowledge with others.
